The Night Coin Parliament

Public lore preserves the setting's disagreements and uncertain histories.

Forbidden Market — Wherever Law Is Thin#

"There is no Parliament building, no charter, no officer of record. There is only a price, a meeting, and the understanding that if you cheat the coin you answer to everyone who uses it." — underworld proverb

The Night Coin Parliament is not an organization in any conventional sense — it is a recurring congress, held in different forms and locations wherever sufficient black-market density exists to justify price coordination. Forbidden goods flow through it: cursed relics still warm from opened vaults, debts owed by people who have since disappeared, proscribed alchemical compounds, and the movement contracts of persons who cannot be seen to move. No one governs the Parliament; its authority derives entirely from the mutual recognition of brokers who understand that collective price-setting protects everyone from destructive undercutting.

In practice the Parliament convenes in shifting forms — sometimes a coded trading session at a legitimate fair, sometimes a candlelit assembly in a bonded warehouse, sometimes a series of courier exchanges between principals who never meet directly. Enforcement of Parliament norms falls to whoever among the brokers has the most to lose from a breach, which ensures disputes are resolved with remarkable speed and occasional brutality.

Every person of influence in the post-collapse world has touched the Parliament at least once: a desperate lord selling ancestral relics, a chancellor quietly acquiring a poison not sold openly, a temple disposing of doctrinally embarrassing artifacts. This universality is the Parliament's greatest protection. Adventurers introduced to Parliament channels gain access to goods and information unavailable anywhere else — and acquire enemies in the same breath.
