Public lore preserves the setting's disagreements and uncertain histories.

"The Concordance decides which ruins are historically significant enough to protect and which are merely ancient enough to excavate. Coincidentally, the ones they protect are always the ones with the interesting artifacts still inside them." — freelance ruin-broker, Azure Isles
The Wayfinder Concordance is the most prestigious federation of surveyors, cartographers, and ruin-brokers operating in the western and island regions. Founded by a consortium of noble expedition sponsors seeking to rationalize the chaotic post-collapse scramble for imperial sites, the Concordance issues licenses to survey, sets standards for documentation, adjudicates competing salvage claims, and publishes official reports that become the legal basis for ruin ownership. Its reputation for rigor is genuine; its reputation for impartiality is not.
The Concordance maintains archive-houses and expedition docks in several major ports, staffed by credentialed surveyors whose published findings carry weight in commercial courts across three regions. Membership is by invitation, renewal by continued contribution to the archive. Senior fellows control which surveys are published, which are quietly buried in restricted access, and which sites are classified as too historically sensitive for commercial exploitation — classifications that conveniently exempt certain sites from competitors while remaining accessible to Concordance members.
The organization's hidden function is as an arbiter of epistemological authority: it decides what the past officially looked like, and which truths about imperial history are too politically explosive to circulate. Adventurers who work for the Concordance receive excellent logistical support and legal cover; those who uncover facts the senior fellows would prefer suppressed find their licenses quietly revoked and their credibility systematically dismantled.
