Landscapes shaped by history
This article's status describes its scope. See development status for current limits.
The Realms' unusual environments inherit the consequences of older institutions, wars, and magic.
The land remembers#
The Glass Wheat Plains, Bloodvine Slopes, and Thorn Choir are regional identities with their own histories. They are not interchangeable names for ordinary grassland, vineyard, or forest. The setting ties their appearance and customs to the remains of the older world.
A regional reading#
The Reach contains weather-wounded farmland and saint-war landscapes. The Iron Heartland has Ironwood Marches, Legion Plains, and Foundry Valleys. The northern coast carries whale graves and thunder glass; southern lands include prism deserts, lantern dunes, and glass-domed groves.
Borderlands and wounds#
Nightglass Prairie and Hollow Sky shape the eastern steppe. Census Plains and Golden Spire Wastes belong to Umbra Magni. Void Waters and Shattered Districts preserve the setting's great wound. Pocket realms are distinct sealed places in the lore, not ordinary overworld terrain.
Use the atlas#
The world page groups the major cultural regions. The landscapes category extracts the encyclopedia's named strange lands into individual reading pages, while retaining the full catalogue. Development images show work in progress and are not a promise of final environmental detail.
